Wythal M. Lane

Wythal M. Lane, age 81, a lifetime resident of Cove, died October 22, 2007 at the Grande Ronde Hospital. A celebration of life will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at Daniels Chapel of the Valley, 1502 7th Street, La Grande. Viewing will be held from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at Daniels Chapel of the Valley.

Mrs. Lane was born on June 30, 1926, the daughter of Ralph and Gladys (Richards) Puckett in Cove. She graduated from Cove High School and on July 31, 1946 she married Max Lane in Cove. This past July they celebrated 61 years of marriage. Her biggest hobby was making sure that her house was in order and her family taken care of. In earlier years she participated on a bowling league. She was a sports enthusiast and a long time supporter of the U of O Ducks Athletic Fund and was a Lady Elk. She loved the outdoors, especially river trips all over the country and spending time with her family and taking care of her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Max of Cove; children and their spouses, Gary and Barb Lane of Riggins, Idaho and Renee‘ and Richard Sjostrom of Pocatello, Idaho; grandchildren and spouses and families, Sven and Janai Sjostrom of Plummer, Idaho and their children, Emma, Brooklyn and Melodie, and Sena and Dieu Dinh of Portland; siblings, Connie Marks of Cove, R.C. "Iron" Puckett of Portland, Zelda Marshall of Cove, Dora Lee "Rosie" Powell of Portland, Jim Puckett of Milwaukie and twins, Ray Puckett of Cove and Gay Zander of La Grande; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by brother, Ladell "Boggs" Puckett and a great grandson, Mason Sjostrom.
