Woody Charles Albers, age 20, of La Grande, died November 1, 2008 in The Dalles. A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, November 7, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center, 1502 7th Street in La Grande. Viewing will be held on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 am until 11:30 am at Daniels~Knopp. A reception for family and friends will follow at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church.
Woody was born on October 21, 1988 in Portland, Oregon, the son of Vincent Gerald and Susan (McCarthy) Albers. He was educated in La Grande and was known for his kind and gentle spirit. He was a gifted artist and enjoyed cooking, music, movies, playing the piano and spending time with his family and friends. Woody also enjoyed outdoor activities, including skateboarding, snowboarding, baseball and riding his bike around town. He had a special gift with young children who always wanted to be around him. Woody had a wonderful sense of humor and a big heart, full of generosity. He was an excellent caregiver to his grandmother.
Survivors include his mother, Susan Albers of La Grande; father, Vince Albers of Las Vegas, Nevada; brothers, Bart Albers and Guy McCarthy, both of La Grande; grandmother, Nadean Stoop of Island City and many aunts, uncles, cousins, a niece and many friends.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to The Stepping Stone Foundation, 2109 3rd Street, La Grande, Oregon 97850.
