William W. “Bill” Wolford, age 87, of Elgin, died Saturday, March 23rd at a care center in Elgin.
A memorial service will be announced later by Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center.
Bill was born on April 15, 1931 in Riverside, California, the son of Alexander and Pearl (Cox) Wolford. He graduated from high school in Drain, Oregon with the class of 1949. On August 7th 1950 he was married to Thelma McMichael in Yoncalla. In 1967 the family moved to Elgin where Bill went to work at the Boise Cascade Plywood Mill.
Bill was an active member of the Elgin Christian Church where he had served as a Deacon and an Elder. He was also a member of the Union at Boise Cascade in Elgin. He enjoyed riding motorcycles many times to California. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, CB radios and being camp host at Tamarack Campground, which his wife Thelma’s father helped build.
Survivors include his children, Barbara Lene of Pendleton, Harold Lee Wolford of Union; brothers, Fred Wolford of Oakland, Oregon and Gerald “Jerry” Wolford of Roseburg; 9 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and siblings, James, Dora, Dorothy and son, William Wiley “Billy” Wolford, Jr. .
