William "Billy" Joe Roberts

William "Billy" Joe Roberts, age 62, of Summerville, died December 18, 2009 at his home. A funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Lienkaemper Chapel in Vale. Committal and interment will follow at the Valley View Cemetery in Vale. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center in La Grande.

Billy was born on March 31, 1947, the son of Vern and Blanche (Fillis)Roberts in Ontario, Oregon. He was educated in Harper and Vale. On September 3, 1967 he married Linda Cooper in Payette, Idaho. He worked as a faller in the logging industry. They lived in the Vale area until 1986 when
they moved to La Grande. He enjoyed working on his home and hunting. As one of 13 children he was very close with his siblings and enjoyed spending time with them, his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Roberts of Summerville; daughter, Micki Roberts of La Grande; son, Michael Roberts of Fruitland, Idaho; siblings,Gene Roberts of Spokane, Washington, Jomay Hood of Parma, Idaho, Verna Lee and Chuck Viktora of Superior, Montana, Johnny Roberts of Moses Lake,
Washington, Gary and Linda Roberts of Summerville, Linda and Roger Smith of Vale, Margaret and Therall Tuttle of Little Valley, Oregon and Mary and Dick Palmer of Vale; grandchildren, Brady Castro, Kobe Roberts, Riley Roberts and
Lane Roberts and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Duane, Don, Jimmy and Larry Roberts and infant sister, Harriett Roberts.
