William "Bill" Douglas Morgan, Jr.

William ‘Bill' Douglas Morgan Jr., 68, of Wellton, Ariz., and formerly of La Grande and Enterprise, died Oct. 1. A memorial service will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Community Church in Enterprise.

Bill was born Sept. 8, 1941, the eldest child of Doug and Betty Morgan in La Grande. He was raised in Enterprise along with his nine siblings and graduated from high school there in 1959. He met Sue, the love of his life, one summer while staying on his grandparents' ranch up Coos River.

Bill went in the U.S. Navy out of high school and was released on a medical discharge after a short period of time.

Bill married Rosemary "Sue" Wardlaw in July 1962, and they started their family soon after while living in Eastside. Bill's son, Kyle, was born in February 1965, and Creighton was born in August 1966.

Bill worked for the city driving a street sweeper. He worked in a lumber mill and drove logging trucks. In 1969 Bill moved his family to North Bend, where they bought their first house. In 1979, Bill and his family moved to Enterprise, where he and his wife became business owners.

In 1986 Bill and Sue moved to Klamath Falls, where he began working for the state of Oregon. He transferred in 1989 to Cascade Locks and then to Irrigon in 1992. Bill retired from the state in 2000.

After spending several winters in Yuma, Ariz., Bill and Sue had a home built in nearby Wellton in 2007.

Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, amateur radio, racing, four-wheeling and golfing.

Bill is survived by his wife, Sue Morgan; sons, Creighton and Kyle and his wife, Kelley; four grandsons; father, Doug; siblings, Hank, Mike, Sam, Mary, David, Ruth, Susan, Tom and Rose; and several nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Betty, and his niece, Tina Wagner.
