William "Harold" Carman

November 13, 1919 — February 24, 2011

William "Harold" Carman, age 91, of La Grande, died February 24, 2011 at his home. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hillcrest Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center.

Harold was born on November 13, 1919, the son of Percy Virgil and Stella (Buchanan) Carman in Stevensville, Montana. On June 30, 1940 he married Luella Beatrice "Bea" Shedeck in La Grande. He served with the United States Army during World War II. After his honorable discharge he went to work for Boise Cascade. He retired after 38 years wiwth the company. He enjoyed camping, yard work and reading. He really loved parties, especially birthday parties with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include his sons, Tom Carman of La Grande, Dave Carman of Springfield and Hal Carman of Hillsboro; sister, Ruby of California; five grandsons; one granddaugter; 13 great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. His wife, "Bea", preceded him in death on October 26, 2000. He was also preceded in death by seven siblings.

Those who wish may make contributions in his memory to the Shriner's Children's Hospital or the GRH Home Health Hospice in care of Daniels~Knopp, 1502 7th Street in La Grande.
