Wesley Frederick Taal

October 14, 1916 — December 30, 2008

Wesley Frederick Taal, age 92, of La Grande, died December 30, 2008 in
Walla Walla, Washington. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Eagles Lodge in La Grande. If for some reason the Eagles Lodge is unavailable and updated location will be published later. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center, 1502 7th Street in La Grande.

Mr. Taal was born on October 14, 1916, the son of Frederick and Emma M. (Gerber) Taal in La Grande. On November 20, 1937 he married Aileen Hatcher in La Grande. They lived at Starkey for 20 years at the Mt. Emily Camp. They moved to La Grande in 1955 and he built roads for Boise Cascade in Union, Umatilla and Wallowa counties until his retirement in 1979.

Mr. Taal was a member of the Eagles Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling in his trailer. He was the ultimate husband, father and grandfather.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Sue Taal of Blue River, Oregon; grandchildren, Kevin Taal of Seattle, Brian Taal of Medford and Shannan Bushard of Central Point; eight great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Lester Taal, Frederica Johnson, Winnie Taal, Donald Taal and Edith Hamhill.
