Wendell Perry

Mr. Perry passed away at his home Friday, October 12, 2005 in American Plaza Towers in Portland, Oregon. The son of Ross and Leo Perry of Elgin, Mr. Perry went through school in Elgin where he was an outstanding musician, playing several instruments with the Grande Ronde Symphony Orchestra. As a young man, he studied music and violin in New York. During his stay in New York, he traveled to many countries with various orchestras. Later he returned to Union County and attended Eastern Oregon College and became a music teacher. He spent 30 years teaching music at Ainsworth and Chapman schools in Portland and Mountain View Middle School in Beaverton, retiring in 1984. Wendell will be remembered for his music concerts each fall and spring of the school year. These music concerts were much admired by many Portland parents.

Survivors include on brother, Merrill Perry of Creswell, Oregon; three sisters, Naoma Jolley of Salt Lake City, Utah and Nelda Payne and Deanna Weatherspoon of Elgin, Oregon. A graveside service will be held in Summerville, Oregon at a later date.
