Warren Lewis Roe

Warren Lewis Roe, Jr., age 82, of Union, died January 22, 2009 at the Grande Ronde Hospital.

A memorial graveside service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday April 4 at the Union Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center. Those who wish may make contributions in his memory to the VFW - High Valley Post 4060 or the Union County Museum Society or the Masonic Lodge.

Mr. Roe was born on May 1, 1926, the son of Warren Lewis and Ursula Mildred Roe, Sr. in Boise, Idaho. He graduated from Boise High and earned his BS in Entomology from the University of Idaho. During World War II he served with the United States Navy in the South Pacific. He was honorably discharged in 1946. On January 10, 1959 he married his wife Carol, in Lewiston, Idaho. They moved to the Grande Ronde Valley in 1960. Warren worked for the Social Security Administration for 30 years before retiring. His wife preceded him in death on January 8, 2004.

Mr. Roe was a very big family man and enjoyed his time with them. He was also actively involved in community service, serving as a volunteer EMT for the Union Ambulance for 20 years. He was a member of the Union United Methodist Church, the VFW High Valley Post 4060, a founding member of the Union County Museum Society and the Union Masonic Lodge and their affiliated lodges. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

Survivors include his children, Linda Roe of Boise, Gregory and Karla Roe of Union and Christopher Roe of Washougal, Washington; five grandchildren, Amy Rekemeyer, Jennifer Roe, Karen Roe, Ashley Roe, Anna Michrina; one great granddaughter, London Elizabeth Rekemeyer, numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends, including long time friend, William Murphy. He was preceded in death by one sister.
