Warren A. Carlsen

September 4, 1926 — March 23, 2009

Warren Archie Carlsen, most recently of Lake Oswego, died March 23, 2009 at the age of 82.


Warren was born September 4, 1926 in Dryad, Washington to Lester and Jennie Carlsen. At the age of 6, his father became the pastor of the Gospel Tabernacle in La Grande, Oregon, and it was in La Grande where Warren was raised and attended school. Following his graduation from high school, he served in the Merchant Marines during World War II.


In 1946, Warren married Patricia Crampton of La Grande. They were married 62 years, and had two children Steven and Judy.


Like his father, Warren had the call of ministry upon his life, and was a life-time ordained minister with the Assemblies of God. He pastored churches primarily in Washington State including in Walla Walla, Mt. Vernon, Tacoma and Seattle. In 1975, Warren and his son Steven Carlsen, founded Grace Community Church in Tualatin now known as Horizon Community Church


Survivors include his wife Patricia, son Steven (Denise) Carlsen of Ellensburg, WA, daughter Judy (Bill) Crow of West Linn, granddaughters Angela Gorman and Amanda Cathcart of Ellensburg, WA., grandson Christopher Crow of Lake Oswego, three great grandchildren, brother Donald Carlsen of La Grande, OR., and sister Lola Mae Holt of Springfield, OR.


A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 27, 2009, at 1 p.m. at Horizon Community Church, 23370 SW Boones Ferry Road, Tualatin, OR. Private interment will be in Grandview Cemetery in La Grande.
