Wanda C. Young

Wanda C. Young, age 76, of Union died October 26,2004 at a local care center. A celebration of life will begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Loveland Funeral Chapel. A private graveside service will be at the Elgin Cemetery.

Mrs. Young was born October 31, 1927 to Cecil and Emma Friend Sapp in Fairmont, West Virginia. She moved to La Grande in 1948 and married Herman Young that same year. He died in 1994. She worked for the phone company as an operator and lived in Imbler before moving to Pendleton in the 1970's She returned to the Grande Ronde Valley in 2002. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, the Eagles and Delta Kappa Sorority and enjoyed drawing, sewing, crafts and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Linda and Vernon Jennings of La Grande, Diana and Gheorghe Stroe of Pilot Rock and Susan and Lester Washington of Pendleton; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and a sister Betty Jacquez of Fairmont, West Virginia. A brother and a sister died earlier.
