Walter Herbert Enter

Walter Herbert Enter, age 85, of La Grande, died November 3, 2015, at a local care facility. A graveside service will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the Hillcrest Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Delores Enter, who passed away from cancer in 1996. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Hillcrest Cemetery. Those who wish may make contributions in his name to Community Connections in care of Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center, 1502 7th Street in La Grande.


Walter was born on October 24, 1930, the son of John Edward and Dolarres Katherine (Evans) Enter in Charleston, South Carolina. He worked as a long haul truck driver until his retirement. His greatest enjoyment was volunteering as a medical transportation driver for Community Connections for over 20 years. He enjoyed getting to know his clients and never met a person he didn't become friends with. He also enjoyed reading Western novels and going to yard sales.


Survivors include his wife, Wynona Enter of La Grande; children and step-children, Richard (Wendy) Enter of Summerville, Deborah (Ron) Hogue of La Grande, Michael Enter of Boise Idaho, Tom (Annet) Enter of La Grande, Arron Moxon of Baker City and Tamara Moxon of Gresham; also, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, all of whom he dearly loved.
