Wallace "Wally" Estes Pruitt

December 8, 1917 — March 27, 2009

Wallace (Wally) Estes Pruitt, 91, of Portland and formerly of Wallowa County, died March 27.

A graveside service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Wallowa Cemetery.

Wallace was born Dec. 8, 1917, to Thomas Luther and Addie Pendergrass Pruitt in Oplin, Texas. He graduated from Wallowa High School in 1938 then attended Abilene Christian College one year. He married Opal Lively on June 22,1940.

He worked as a builder, at a lumber mill, at the Wallowa County Creamery and owned the Western Auto Store in Wallowa before moving to Portland where he worked 26 years in maintenance at Columbia Christian College.

He was a Boy Scout leader, friend and Christian. Those who knew him say he dedicated his life to serving God and others.

He is survived by his wife Opal; son, Tim and his wife, Tina, of Hood River; daughter, Susan of Colville, Wash.; and three grandchildren.
