Von B. Williamson

Von B. Williamson, age 46, of Wellsville, Utah and formerly of La Grande died April 26, 2004 of natural causes while hiking in Arches National Park. Burial was at the Wellsville City Cemetery.

Mr. Williamson was born on January 6, 1958 to Robert Keith and Donna Bingham Williamson in La Grande. He married Diane Williams on June 6, 1980 at the Salt Lake Temple. He graduated from high school in Cabot, Arkansas and served a mission in Frankfurt, Germany. He was a lieutenant and a 24-year veteran of the Cache County Sheriff's Office and was named Utah Jail Commander of the Year in 2001 by the Utah Sheriff's Association. He graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quzntico, Virginia and earned an honors bachelor of arts degree in human resource management from the Utah State University. He was pursuing a master's degree in public administration from USU.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in many capacities, including serving as first counselor in the bishopric of the USU 47th Student Ward.

He enjoyed vacations with his family, wrestling and playing Trivial Pursuit and card games. He was proud of his children and was talking about them when he died. He was loved and respected by many.

Survivors include his wife of Wellsville; children and their spouses, Amanda and Jared Erickson of Logan, Utah, Jeremy, Maegan, Sarah and Jessica Williamson, all of Wellsville; his parents; siblings and thier spouses, Robert and Linda Williamson and Ronald and Debbie Williamson, all of Texas; LeAnn and David Buell of Leawood, Kansas and Becky and Donald Waddle of Texas; a grandmother, Lucille Bingham; an aunt, LaVon Hall of Union and other relatives.

A brother, Michael Williamson, died earlier.
