Viola Barritt

Viola Barritt, age 86, of La Grande, died Tuesday, September 13, 2005 at the Grande Ronde Hospital. A graveside service will be held on Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Hillcrest Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until noon at Daniels Chapel of the Valley.

Mrs. Barritt was born on December 26, 1918, the daughter of Joseph Wiley and Annie Helen (Lindsay) Nebeker in La Grande, Oregon. On December 23, 1946 she married Vernon Samuel Barritt in Las Vegas, Nevada. They lived in California where she worked for the Carnation Milk Company for 30 years. He preceded her in death on January 20, 1970. She moved to La Grande in May of 1995 from Arizona for a time and later returned to Arizona and Utah. Several years ago she returned to La Grande to be near family. She enjoyed traveling, being in the outdoors, visiting with people and going to church. Her family was important to her

Survivors include her siblings, Ida Lyman of Utah, Gertie Hibbert of La Grande and Verda Westenskow of La Grande; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by sister, Helen Zaugg and brothers, Wiley, Alexander and Vern Nebeker
