Victor Roy "Bud" Posvar, Jr., age 72, of La Grande, died May 13, 2010 at the Grande Ronde Hospital. A funeral will begin on Friday, May 21, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lighthouse Pentecostal Church. Committal and interment will follow at the Grandview Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Friday morning from 10:00 until 12:00 noon at Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center.
Mr. Posvar was born on October 26, 1925, the son of Thelma Louise (Gassett) and Victor Roy Posvar, Sr. in Bend, Oregon. He attended two years of college before enlisting in the United States Navy where he served from 1942 until his retirement in 1976. On May 11, 1944 he married Veronica "Margaret" Rovna. After his honorable discharge from the Navy they moved to La Grande.
He was a very active member of the Lighthouse Pentecostal Church and was also a member of the Naval Fleet Reserve and the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, working crossword puzzles and visiting those confined to the hospital.
Survivors include his children, Roney Lee and Judy Posvar of Lancaster, SC, Vickie Ann and Johnny Thieme of Summerville and Randy Roy Posvar of Bend; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; sisters, Patricia Ross of Sterling, AK, Mary O'Donnel of Bend and Mildren Muff of Canby; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife and sisters, Karma Greer and Roberta Burke.
Those who wish may make contributions in memory of Mr. Posvar to the Lighthouse Church in care of Daniels~Knopp, 1502 7th Street in La Grande.
