Veryl Smith

Veryl Smith, 81, of La Grande died May 2, 2004 at the home of his son. A memorial service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 15, 2004 at the Union County Senior Ceter, 1504 Albany Street, with Pastor Kemit Knight of the Damascus Road Ministries officiating.

Mr. Smith was born on May 6, 1922, to Roy and Lilly Smith in Wallowa. He served in the Army Air Forces during World War II. He was a retailer of oil products and a distributor for Veltex Oil Co. and later Chevron Oil Co.

Survivors include his companion, Leona Baxter of La Grandel children, Cleon Smith of La Grande and Kaye Boling of Eugene; the grandchildren, Rick Hilyard of Houston, Steve Hilyard of La Grande and Gwen Hilyard of Salt Lake City; four other grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren. His wife, Lois Smith died earlier.
