Vera Irene Williams, 88, of La Grande, died April 16 at Grande Ronde Hospital. A funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Loveland Funeral Chapel A viewing for family and friends will run from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. prior to her service. Burial will be at Dubois Cemetery in Dubois, Wyo.
Vera was born Nov. 23, 1922, one of 12 children to James Edward and Elizabeth Mae (Campbell) Taylor at Edgar, Neb. She was raised in Alamena, Kan. On May 15, 1943, she married Manly Williams from
La Grande. In 1963, they moved to Wyoming where Manly was employed in the logging industry. After Manly's death in 1987, Vera moved to La Grande to be closer to her family.
Vera enjoyed knitting, canning, mountain drives, reading and puzzles. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Grange and TOPS.
Vera is survived by her son and his wife, Eugene and Peggy Williams of Prairie City; sister, Della McLure of Indiana; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Manly; her parents; and 10 siblings.
