Velva Gaye Richardson

Velva Gaye Richardson, age 73, of La Grande, died November 17, 2016 at her home. A memorial service will be announced in the spring. Those who wish may make contributions to a charity of choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center.

Velva was born on June 10, 1943, the daughter of Wayne and Genevieve (Heisner) Stickney in La Grande. She graduated from La Grande High School and later from Blue Mtn. Community College. In the 1970's she worked for the State Hospital in Pendleton and later lived in New Hampshire and Florida. In 1the late 1980s she returned to La Grande. She worked as a caregiver for New Day Enterprises for 20 years. She enjoyed fishing, selling items on eBay and spending time with family, especially grandchildren and great nieces and nephews.

Survivors include her sons, Alan Canfield of La Grande and Damon Canfield of Pendleton; long time companion, Richard Good; brother, Duane Stickney of Hermiston; sister, Sharon Snyder of La Grande; three grandchildren, Jacob Canfield of La Grande, Elizabeth Canfield of Pendleton and Courtney Canfield of Pendleton and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
