Tyler Roy VanLeuven, 21, of Imbler, died Oct. 13 in Elgin. A celebration of life will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Imbler High School gymnasium.

Tyler was born Sept. 9, 1989, to Joey Shane and Darla Mae (Jacoby) VanLeuven in La Grande. He grew up in Imbler and was a 2008 graduate of Imbler High School where he played football, basketball and baseball. He was employed with Timberline Lodge on the snowboard crew and also worked at Boise Cascade.
Tyler was an avid snowboarder and skateboarder. He spent many hours planning and executing stunts with his bikes and skateboards. He enjoyed shooting and reloading guns. His favorite activities included camping with his family and friends, rafting and hiking. Tyler loved his family and friends so much that it was tattooed on his forearm.
He is survived by his parents and brother, Joey and Darla and Tanner Kade VanLeuven of Imbler; grandparents, Duane and Sherry VanLeuven of Elgin and Ed and Linda Jacoby of Imbler; great-grandmother, Verna Oliver of Yuma, Ariz.; aunts and uncles; and many cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Imbler Education Foundation in care of Loveland Funeral Chapel.
