Tracy Lawrence Epping

March 1, 1951 — April 16, 2007

Tracy Lawrence Epping died on April 16, 2007 at the age of 56 in Summerville, Oregon. Tracy was born in Salem on March 1, 1951. He graduated from Oregon State University in Engineering and began his construction career in the Willamette Valley where he married and raised his daughters. He moved to the Grande Ronde Valley in 2003 and lived on a ranch while continuing his career in construction. Beloved father, son, brother, husband and uncle. He was passionate about his family, friends and horses. Always a competitive spirit, he completed the 100-mile Tevis Cup endurance ride on his favorite horse, "Kid". He felt most at home in the wilderness and shared many great hunting, fishing, and camping adventures with his family and friends. In recent years he was a dedicated volunteer with the Clackamas and Union County Search and Rescue. His spirit was as big as the horizon he rode on. A kind and gentle soul, he will be missed by all he touched.

He is survived by his parents, Larry and Jeanette; his daughters, Jenny and Dianne and husband Nick Johnson; his first wife, Kay Rufener; his second wife, Sue Epping and her children, Josh and Sierra; his brothers Randy, Daniel, Gary and wife Jennifer; his sister Shawn Engelberg and husband Chas; and nephews Jerrod, Ricky, Mark and Christian.

Services will be held Wednesday, April 25, at 3:30 PM at St. Mary's Church, Mt. Angel, Oregon, reception following in St. Mary's Church Hall. For those not going to the service they may sign the on-line guestbook and leave a condolence or memory at www.danielschapel.com.

The family suggests that remembrances be made to MHA of Oregon, Bipolar Disorders research (MHA of Oregon, Regional Research Institute, Portland State University or the Union County Search and Rescue in care of Daniels Chapel of the Valley, 1502 7th Street, La Grande, Oregon 97850.
