Thomas Riley Weems, 69, of Veneta and formerly of North Powder, died Nov. 21 at his home. At his request, his body was cremated. A graveside service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at North Powder Cemetery. A reception for family and friends will follow at North Powder Grange.
Tom was born March 18, 1940, to Evelyn and Clyde Weems at Flagstaff, Ariz.
Tom's occupation was welding. He worked on the Glen Canyon Dam in northern Arizona in the early 1960s. He worked throughout California, Washington, Oregon and Alaska in the following years.
He moved to North Powder in the early 1980s. He so loved the country that he decided to stay. He loved hunting and fishing in Eastern Oregon.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years; his four sons and two daughters; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother and a sister.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wolf Creek Grange, P.O. Box 352, North Powder 97867.
