Thelma Grace Oliver

Thelma Grace Oliver, age 89, of Summerville, passed away December 9th at Jody's Country Care.

Thelma was born August 6, 1926 at Altoona, PA to David I. and Anna B. (Rhine) Kennedy. Her family moved to Elgin in 1930 where Thelma attended school. She worked in the Portland Shipyard during World War II. On March 23, 1947 she married Emery Oliver at Summerville where they farmed throughout their lives. Thelma belonged to Jewel Rebecca Lodge #96, Blue Mountain Chapter Order of Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, American Legion and VFW. She was Mother Advisor of the Rainbow Girls and taught 4-H. She enjoyed sewing, baking wedding cakes and china painting. She worked at The Top Shop doing alterations.

She is survived by her daughters, Ann (Lee) Flower of La Grande, Carol (Charles Meyer) Oliver of Elgin and Marilyn (Jim) Morasch of Hermiston; three granddaughters, one grandson; nine great grandchildren and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emery, parents, brothers, Bill, Charles, Ralph 'Lefty', Woodrow and Donald, sisters, Pearl Thomas, Ruth McClune and 3 infant siblings and 2 infant graddaughters.

A memorial service for her will be held in the Spring. In lieu of flowers please donate to a charity of your choice in care of Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center.
