Ted Dale Hightower

Ted Dale Hightower, age 78, of Sweet Home and formerly of La Grande, died August 20, 2004 in Portland.

Mr. Hightower was born May 19, 1926, to Francis P. and Dollie E. Hightower in Kansas City, MO. He served in the Navy and lived in the La Grande area for 30 years. The couple worked as rural carriers for The Observer for five years in Cove and five years in Union and moved to Sweet Home in 2002. He was a man of few words with a heart of gold.

Survivors include his wife, Helen of Sweet Home; children and their spouses, Gloria and John Eastland of Reno, Nevada, Geneva Hall of Alta Loma, CA, Twyla and Leroy Eastland of Fletcher, OK, Dollie and Andy Moszer of Lebanon and Paul and Robin Lane of San Bernardino, CA; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild. A son, Michael Pirot, a grandchild and three sisters all died earlier.
