Ted Arnoldus

Ted Arnoldus, age 84, of Union, died Thursday, March 2, 2006 at his home. A private family service will be held. Interment will be at the Island City Cemetery. Those who wish may sign the on-line guest book or leave a condolence at www.danielschapel.com.

Ted was born on December 12, 1921, the son of James Andrew and Edna Pearl (Woods) Arnoldus in Wallowa, Oregon. The family moved to Summerville when he was a young child until graduating from Imbler High School at age 16. On July 3, 1942 he married Mayme Miller in Weiser, Idaho. He served with the United States Army during World War II and after his discharge they settled in North Powder. He operated their ranch near Anthony Lakes for 25 years while also serving as the North Powder Post Master for 10 years then working as a Real Estate Broker for 3 years and finally serving as a loan consultant for Farm Credit Services for 23 years. After his retirement they settled in Union.

Ted was a member of the Grande Ronde Valley Masonic Lodge, the Baker Scottish Rite and was Past Master of the North Powder Masonic Lodge. He was a longtime member of the American Legion and served 16 years on the North Powder School Board. He attended and helped support churches of his choice wherever he lived.
His goal and objective in life was love of family and especially thanks his wife, Mayme for her years of faithful love and support.

Survivors include his wife, Mayme of Union; children, Karen Gitzen of Ontario;
Gloria and Conley Didier of Fallon, Nevada and Eric and Kathy Arnoldus of La Grande; Six grandchildren; Four great grandchildren; brothers and their wives, Alfred and Bonnie Arnoldus of Summerville, Armond and Vivian Arnoldus of Imbler and Jerry and Jan Arnoldus of La Grande; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son-in-law, Bill Gitzen.
