Tammy J. Kapica

October 13, 1970 — January 14, 2009

Tammy J. Kapica, 38, of Pendleton and formerly of La Grande, died Jan. 14 at St. Anthony Hospital. A celebration of her life was held Jan. 18 at the Faith Center in Pendleton. Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements.

Tammy was born Oct. 13, 1970, in Gold Beach. She was raised by her mother and step-father, Gloria and Anthony VanPelt. She lived in Southern Oregon and later attended high school in Yreka, Calif. She later moved to the Pendleton area in about 1990 and lived in La Grande from 1993 to 1999.

She worked as a homemaker raising her three children. She married Clint J. Kapica June 27, 2004, in Walla Walla. The couple lived in Pendleton.

Tammy greatly enjoyed bowling and softball as well as being a cheer mom. She liked bingo, camping and rafting. She was a member of bowling and softball teams.

She is survived by her husband, Clint Kapica of Pendleton; father, Louis Baker; mother, Gloria VanPelt of Pendleton; three children, Christopher Forkner of Crescent City, Calif., Natasha Forkner of Pendleton and Samantha Ghrist of La Grande; two brothers, Eric Baker of Connecticut and Geremy Baker of Pendleton; many half brothers and half sisters; and many nieces and nephews. Tammy was preceded in death by her half brother Thorin Baker.

Memorials contributions may be made to the Tammy Kapica Memorial Fund in care of Oregon First Community Credit Union in Pendleton.
