Starla Irene Miller

Starla Irene Miller, age 76, died June 17, 2014 at her home in Union. Viewing will be held at Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Island City Cemetery. Those who wish may make contributions in her memory to the Oregon Cancer Society.

Starla was born on April 25, 1938, the daughter of Star and Lucy (McClune) Sawyer in Elgin, Oregon. On November 10, 1954 she married Donald Miller in La Grande. They lived in La Grande and Hermiston before moving to Wyoming in 1970. In 1987 they moved to Union. She loved her yard and garden and was talented at knitting and crocheting and made afghans for many people over the years.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Miller of Union; children, Della Jean Jultak of Aurora, Colorado, Wynema Kucera of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Lloyd Dale Miller of Lathrop, California; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; siblings, Sylvan Sawyer of La Grande, Marion Sawyer of Idaho, Marvyl Powelson of Imbler, Gayla Walker of Portland, Morris Sawyer of Union and Nila Hodgson of Richland; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Orrin 'Dick' Miller on March 7, 2014.
