Shirley Leonidos Snow

September 24, 1932 — December 25, 2004

Shirley Leonidos Snow, age 72, of Echo and formerly of La Grande, died December 25, 2005 at her home. A recitation of the Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Burns Mortuary in Hermiston. The funeral mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Hermiston. Burial will follow at the Echo Cemetery. After the service there will be a luncheon upstairs at Echo City Hall.

Mrs. Snow was born September 24, 1932 to Manuel and Ada Ward Cunha in Pendleton. She graduated from Echo High School in 1950 and attended Eastern Oregon College. On August 15, 1953 she married H. Richard Snow in Hermiston. The couple lived at Fort Lewis in Washington while her husband was in the Army and returned to Echo in 1955 to farm.

She was a member of the Catholic Church, the Echo Historical Society and the All Girl Band that marched in the Portland Rose Festival parade and the Spokane Lilac Festival parade. She enjoyed the mountains, riding horses, cooking for the harvest crews, all types of music and animals, especially her horeses and dogs. She faced the challenges of multiple sclerosis for 37 years.

Survivors include her husband of Echo; children, Richard K Snow and Lisa McCallum, both of Echo, Denise Howland of Salem, Stacey Snow of Culver and Sonia Snow of Langhorne, Penn. and nine grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society of Oregon, 1650 NW Front Avenue, Suite 190, Portland, Oregon 97209.
