Shirley Droschkey

Shirley Droschkey, age 87, of Cove, died November 3, 2011 at the Grande Ronde Hospital. A graveside service will be held on Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Cove Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center.

Shirley was born on February 11, 1924, the daughter of Albert and Ruth (Fult) Brazelle in La Grande. After graduating from high school she went on to Oregon State University where she graduated with a degree in Business Administration in 1946. On November 18, 1948 she married William Russell Droschkey in Cove. She taught business courses at Cove School from September 1957 until June 1971.

Shirley was treasurer for the Cove Public Library for over 20 years and was treasurer for the Cove Cemetery for forty years. She and her husband raised horses and mules. Their favorite dog breed was Airdales. Her husband preceded her in death on August 22, 2006. She is survived by various family members and many friends.
