Sherry Lee was born on July 5, 1945, the daughter of Gordon and Madge (Bradfield) Griffith in Ontario, Oregon. In 1946 the family moved to North Powder and she graduated from Powder Valley High School with the class of 1963. She was a Rainbow Girl and a Union County Fair Maid in her younger years. On February 26, 1966 she married James DeBorde and they had two sons. After his death on July 28, 1983 she went to work for the State Employment Division as an employment specialist. She retired in March of 2007 after 25 years.

Sherry dearly loved her family and friends. She and her long-time companion Mike enjoyed traveling, going to the Reno air races for twenty years, and especially camping & riding ATV's. Her son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren were the lights of her life. There was a special place in her heart for her great-niece Sophie Rae. As noted, camping and huge bon fires (and we mean HUGE bon fires) were her favorite activities. Sherry and her cherished friend Bonnie Ackley loved to camp and relax on the Grande Ronde River. She enjoyed musicals and plays that she attended with her sisters.

Survivors include her longtime companion, Mike Mullins of La Grande; son and his wife, Jason and Heather DeBorde, grandchildren Riley James and Kali Lynn DeBorde, all of Warrenton, Virginia. Step children Mandi & Chris Case and Tausha Murray, step grandchildren Spencer Case, Kendall Murray and Luke Murray, sisters April Kay Patterson, Viki Turner, and brother-in-law Don Turner, all of North Powder; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Shawn Allen DeBorde.

A very special thank you goes out to all the staff at Grande Ronde Hospital ICU unit that treated Sherry and her family so kindly and compassionate over her last days here with us.

Those who wish may make contributions in her memory to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 3101 SW Sam Jackson Park Road, Portland, Oregon 97329.
