Sarah B. Thompson, age 83, formerly of La Grande, died Saturday, December 14, 2002 at the home of her son in Brier, Washington.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Valley. Committal and interment will follow at the Hillcrest East Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Valley.
Mrs. Thompson was born on October 9, 1919, the daughter of Raymond and Anna (Gritsmacher) Viergutz in Wausau, Wisconsin. She lived in La Grande for many years until the death of her husband, Earl "Butch" Thompson. She then moved to Brier, Washington to live with her son.
She is survived by her children, Janet Bush of Hermiston, David Viergutz of Antelope, California, Larry Thompson of Portland and Ronald Thompson of Brier, Washington along with seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Other survivors include her sisters, Grace Halliday of La Grande and Mabel Griesen of Wausau, Wisconsin along with brothers, Lester and Glenn Viergutz of Wausau, Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl "Butch" Thompson, brothers, Harold, Wallace and Dale Viergutz and granddaughter, Cheryl Rayburn.
