Sammie Greulich

April 10, 1906 — November 10, 2003

Sammie Greulich, age 97, of La Grande, died November 10, 2003 at a local care facility. A reception will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2003 at the Wildflower Lodge. Anyone that knew her is invited to attend.

Mrs. Greulich was born April 10, 1906, the daughter of Robert and Della (Iverson) Bennett in Grand Forks, North Dakota. She attended grade school in La Grande and graduated from Pendleton High School. She attended the University of Oregon and then married Loye A. McGee of Pendleton in 1924. The couple lived in New York City where he attended graduate school and worked at Columbia Teachers College. After World War II the family settled in Tacoma, Washington. After her husband's death in 1979 she married an old friend, Francis Gerulich of La Grande in 1987. He preceded her in death in 1992.

She was a member of Chi Omega sorority and attended St. Peter's Episcopal Church. She enjoyed playing bridge and being with her friends.

Survivors include her daughters, Sally Horn of Hailey, Idaho and Loy Ann Carrington of Providence, Rhode Island; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made to the GRH Hospice in care of Daniels Chapel of the Valley, 1502 7th Street, La Grande, Oregon 97850.
