Sallie Ann Seaman

November 26, 1931 — October 19, 2005

Sallie Ann Seaman, age 73 of Cove, died Wednesday, October 19, 2005 at Saint Mary's Medical Center in Walla Walla, Washington. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the La Grande Masonic Lodge. A private interment will be held at the Cove Cemetery.



Sallie Ann Seaman was born on November 26, 1931, the daughter of Marvin and Audrey (Morris) Ponton in Fairfax, Oklahoma. At an early age, Sallie and her family moved to Oregon and she attended schools and graduated from Cottage Grove High School. She later moved to Glide, Oregon where her family operated a logging company for many years before moving to Enterprise where they operated a cattle ranch during the 1970's. Her family would later again move to the Grande Ronde Valley where they operated an irrigation operation. Sallie attended Beauty College in Santa Barbara, California and in 1955 she married Walt Hansen, he later preceded her in death in 1984. In 1986, Sallie moved to Cove where she would later meet and marry Daniel Seaman on August 8, 1992. She was a past grand matron of the Order of Eastern Star and belonged to the Roseburg Chapter and the Cherry Chapter for 52 years. She also belonged to the Daughters of the Nile, Mother Advisor for Rainbow for Girls, Mother Ortman Assembly in Enterprise. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, dancing as part of the Hoof 'in Heifers and was a faithful supporter of Order of Eastern Star cancer research and the Shriners Children Hospital.



Survivors include her husband, Daniel Seaman of Cove; children and their spouses, Pattie Jo and Larry Taylor of Gravois Mills, Missouri, Gary and Debra Hansen of Cove, Oregon and Debbie and Tim Huffman of Enterprise, Oregon; step-children and their spouses, David and Kris Seaman of Nampa, Idaho and Diane Barker of Boise, Idaho; sister Mary Jane DuMont of Glide, Oregon; thirteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Her parents and her husband, Walt Hansen all preceded her in death.
