Ruth (Bowman) Slabaugh, 100, of La Grande, died Sept. 15 at a local care center.
Ruth was born April 27, 1909, to George and Miranda (Brubaker) Bowman in Nampa, Idaho. She was very active with her family and her brother and three sisters.
She was raised and educated in Onekama, Mich., and went on to nursing school in Chicago. She married Glenn Slabaugh Sept. 8, 1930, in Crown Pointe, Ind., and they had six children.
She moved to the La Grande area from Durand, Ill., in 1956. She enjoyed china painting and needlework.
She is survived by her children James and his wife, Karen Slabaugh, of Felton, Calif., Curtis and his wife, Betsy Slabaugh, of Ironwood, Mich., Paul and his wife, Sandy Lee Slabaugh, of Rockford, Ill., Richard and his wife, Jannan Slabaugh of Pullman, Wash., David and his wife, Dyvon, of Anacortes, Wash., and Stephen of
La Grande; sister, Edna Fore of Hot Springs, Ark.; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
