Ruth "Momo" L. Hoover

February 15, 1926 — January 1, 2005

Ruth L. "Momo" Hoover, 78, of Umatilla County and formerly of La Grande died January 1, at Good Samaritan Center in Hermiston. Funeral services were held Jan. 5.

Mrs. Hoover was born Feb. 15, 1926, to Frank and Anna Mae Bashor Britain in Pendleton. On Jan. 8, 1945 she married Homer E. Hoover.

The couple lived in pendleton until 1950 when they moved to La Grande. She moved back to pendleton for a short time only to move back to La Grande.

She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist church and for years was a deaconess, always ready and willing to help when asked. She enjoyed the Portland Trail Blazers, staying at the beach, sewing, playing pinochle and Yahtzee, and spending time at the family camp in the mountains. She was never out of contact with her five brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include daughters, Diana struntz of Hermiston and Carol Boothe of Astoria; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Charles Britain of La Grande and Virgil Britain of Aberdeen, Wash.; and sisters, Edna Peterson of Pendleton and Patricia Massie of Hermiston.

Three brothers, Gene, Jack and Frank Britain, and a sister Marie Blakely, all died earlier.

Memorial may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in care of Bishop Funeral Chapel, 131 S.E. Byers, Pendleton 97801.
