Ruth Dora Conaway

December 22, 1914 — July 2, 2009

Ruth Dora Conaway, 94, of La Grande, died July 2 at a local care center. A graveside service will begin at 11 a.m. Aug. 22 at Grandview Cemetery. Loveland Funeral Chapel and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Ruth was born Dec. 22, 1914, to George and Alice (Miller) Looslie in Union. She was raised in Union County and attended schools in Medical Springs.

She married Jim Conaway Dec. 29, 1958, in Hagerman, Idaho. He was a local rancher for many years. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, gardening, crocheting and reading. She was a member of several organizations and did volunteer work. She attended the United Methodist Church in Union.

Survivors include her daughter, Louine and her husband, Gary Baesler, of Hillsboro; two grandchildren; two great-grandsons; brother, Dan and his wife, Phyllis Looslie, of Elgin, and Garry and his wife, Lelia Looslie, of Pendleton; sister, Georgia Wright of La Pine; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband on March 14, 1993; brother, Marvin Looslie; and three sisters, Esther DeVore of Union, Leona Youncs of Pendleton and Bonnie Rumbly of Sterling, Alaska.
