Ruth Marie Bunnell

Ruth Marie Bunnell, age 91 of La Grande, died, Tuesday, June 20, 2006. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 23, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Valley. Interment will be next to her father in Santa Anna, Texas.

Ruth Marie Bunnell was born November 11, 1914 to Frank and Birdie Letha (McHorse) Bunnell in Eddy, Texas. She survived two husbands, Thomas House Sr. and George Ward and later resumed her maiden name. She was preceded in death by two sisters and a daughter Bunny Jourdan.

She worked in a shipyard in California during World War II and did other various jobs before retiring in 1972. She moved to La Grande with her husband George in 1976. She had many loyal friends and neighbors. She loved the arts, music, operas, symphonies and watching ice skating in later years. She was also an avid reader and spent a lot of time in her flower gardens during the summer.

Survivors include a son, Thomas House of Valley Center, Kansas; daughters, Jorine McConville of Norman, Oklahoma and Fran Davis of Sun Valley, California; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; nephew Eugen Kelley and wife Betty of Houston, Texas; nieces, Joyce Barron and husband William of Sugarland, Texas and Barbara Ann Holcombe and husband Jack of Montgomery, Texas.
