Ruby Annie Patterson, age 95, of La Grande and formerly of Hood River, died Saturday, February 26, 2005. A family burial was held at the Summerville Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.
Mrs. Patterson was born on October 2, 1909, the daughter of August and Margaret (Klien) Behrens in Summerville. Ruby went to school at Dry Creek Grade School and then graduated from Imbler High School. She was in the first class to graduate from Wade Hall. She then went to business school in La Grande and worked for Eddy Bakery, where she met her husband, Bob Patterson. She later worked for Farnum Motor Supply and Repair. During World War days she was a Depot Agent for Union Pacific Railroad, of which her husband was an Engineer. They moved to Hood River in the 1950's and Bob worked the Hood River Railroad and Rudy was a county Assessor for Hood River County until her retirement. She spent a few years in Down Manor Retirement Home before moving back to La Grande lived at Wildflower Lodge.
She enjoyed life and her work as well as trips to the cabin and ocean at Long Beach, Washington. She enjoyed the Hood River Episcopal Church very much.
Survivors include her sister, Nellie Teeter of Imbler; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Edith Champan Weiss and brothers, Ed, Art and Fred Behrens.
