Graveside services will be held for Roy E. Howell at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 9, 2004 at the Elgin Cemetery.
Mr. Howell, 85, was born June 18, 1919, in Tecumseh, Oklahoma to Earl and Edna (Slater) Howell and passed away on July 4, 2004 in Sandy, Oregon. Mr. Howell served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a longtime self-employed logger. He also owned and operated the Boomer Mill in Blaine for several years. After an injury he became a bookkeeper for several businesses in Elgin.
Mr. Howell retired to Sandy and then moved to Tillamook. Mr. Howell enjoyed fishing, taking his boats out on the bay and hunting with family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Roy E. Howell II of Elgin, Sandra L. Boyd of Salem, Linda L. Smith of Sandy, Sharon Cottrell of Vancouver, Washington, Debra A. Lietke of Washington, D.C. and Joann Buckleman of Lake Oswego; two sisters, Juanima Smith of Albany and Wanda Challenger of Monte Vista, California and many grandchildren.
