Roundy Ray Plumley

March 26, 1935 — December 26, 2010

Roundy Ray Plumley, age 75, of La Grande, died December 26, 2010 at his home. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center, 1502 7th Street in La Grande.

Roundy was born on March 26, 1935, the son of Sherman and Ruth (Stowers) Plumley in Hurricane, West Virginia. He was educated in West Virginia, Idaho, Florence, Brookings and graduated from the La Grande High School. He served with the United States Navy for four years before returning to La Grande to make his home. He worked as a millwright for Boise Cascade until his retirement. He married Donna (Carper) Fillmore on September 30, 1961 in La Grande. At the time she was a widow with two daughters and he instantly became their father. He was a father figure to many children over the years. He was an avid hunter and also enjoyed fishing, camping and wood working. He was a life member of both the Elks Lodge and the VFW and was a member of the Eagles Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Donna of La Grande; children, Becky and Mike Colkitt of Union, Kathy and Allen Sargent of Union, Randy Plumley of Maui, and Rick and Janet Plumley of Baker City; grandchildren and their families, Joshua Colkitt and his partner Jessyka Thomas and their children, Sheridan and Sheldon; Krista and Eric Griffiths and their children, Tyler and Alexandra; Justin Colkitt and his partner Anna Michrina and their child, Ainsley; Heather and Derrick Franklin and their children, Kofi and Booker; Joseph Craig; Hannah Sargent; Duncan Plumley and Marcus Plumley; sister and her husband, Rhoda and Ken Bacon of Lewiston, Idaho; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by siblings, Yewell, Carl, Corbett, Al, Margaret, Wanda and Anna and an infant son.
