Rose M. Griffin, 85, of La Grande died May 13 at her home. A private burial will be at the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
Mrs. Griffin was born April 9, 1918, to Joseph and Valeria Caszewski Sienkiewicz in Tacoma. She graduated from high school in Puyallup, Wash., in 1936, and married Charles Zinski in 1934. She later graduated from Bates Business College. After her husband's death she married Joseph Maurer in 1962 in Tacoma. After his death she married Maurice "Chick" Griffin in June 1997 in Tacoma.
The couple moved to La Grande in 2001 to be close to family. In Puyallup she was a member of the Catholic Church, the VFW Auxiliary, the grange, and the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, playing cards, gardening and being with family.
Survivors include her husband of La Grande; children and their spouses, Joseph and Kathy Zinski, Barbara Stetton, and Jack and Cheryl Zinski, all of Tacoma, David and Becky Zinski, of Yelm, Wash., Beverly Zinski of Washington, and Joann and Evan Waite of La Grande; sister Ruth Sienkiewicz of Puyallup; 16 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and other relatives.
