Rosa Marie Sargent

Rosa Marie Sargent, 85, of La Grande died December 7, 2004 at a local care center. Viewing will be from 4 to 7 pm Friday and from 11am to 2 pm at Loveland Funeral Chapel. A celebration of life will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at Loveland Funeral Chapel. A memorial service in Pine Haven Cemetery in Pine Valley is planned for Memorial Day 2005.

Mrs. Sargent was born on October 3, 1919, to Lorenzo and Margherita Falcinella Del Curto in North Pine. She graduated from Pine Valley High School and attended both Eastern Oregon Normal School and the University of Oregon. She taught at Pine Town, a one room school, and at Halfway Elementary School until 1960 when she moved to Oregon City. She held a lifetime teaching license and was a life member of the Oregon Education Association, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7847 Auxiliary in Halfway, and the Catholic Church. In 1997 she moved to La Grande to be closer to family. For the last two and a half years she lived at Country Rose Manor.

Survivors include her daughter, Carol Wilhelm of La Grande; a sister, Catherine Wilson of Eugene; a sister-in-law, Courtney Del Curtis; one granddaughter and other relatives in Italy. Six siblings, John, Reno, Lawrence and Jerry Del Curto, Rita Motley and Lena Wyatt all died earlier.
