Roland Percy Paulson, 69, of La Grande, died Feb. 9 at his home. His memorial service will begin at noon Sunday at the Blue Mountain Conference Center at 12th Street and Gekeler Lane.
Rolly was born April 13, 1941, to Percy William and Lois Lucile (Emmons) Paulson in Astoria. He grew up in Salem and graduated from North Salem High School in 1959. He joined the Army, and while serving his country, his unit was deployed during the Bay of Pigs invasion.
Rolly married Nancy Carol Harper and they became the parents of two sons. They later divorced.
Rolly moved to La Grande with his family in 1974 and was employed by Hermann's Trailer Sales before starting his own business, Honda Country. He later converted the business to Rolly's Tavern.
In 1997, he began working for Nash RV Manufacturing. He served as the district regional manager for 10 years before his retirement.
Rolly was a member of the La Grande Optimists and served as its president from 1982 to 1983. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, serving on the board in 1991. He was also a member of the Elks and Ducks Unlimited.
His favorite activities were hunting and fishing. Those who knew him say he was always fishing.
Surviving are his two sons, Travis Paulson of La Grande and Ryan Paulson of Seattle; his parents, Percy Paulson, 93, of Portland, and Lois Paulson, 89, of Salem; siblings and their spouses, Stan and Joann Paulson, Jan and Dennis Wimberly and Mary and Charles Fair, all of Salem; two grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
