Roger D. Follett, formerly of Elgin, died Saturday, July 29, 2023, in McMinnville at the age of 82.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 5th at 1:00 p.m. the Pine Grove, commonly known as the Follett Cemetery, Follett Road on the family ranch near Elgin. A reception will be held following the ceremony at the Elgin Community Center.
Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center of La Grande.
Roger was born in Elgin, August 17, 1940, one of six children of Jesse King “J.K.” and Florence Naomi (Hug) Follett. He was raised on a ranch near Elgin while attending Pine Grove School before they merged with the Elgin District. Roger spent his career working for the Boise Cascade Lumber mill until retiring as a lumber grader in 2005.
Roger enjoyed Hunting, Fishing, wood working, ceramics, rock hounding and rock tumbling.
Survivors include his sons, Ted Follett of Corvallis and Bill Follett of Stevenson Ranch, California; grandchildren, Jake, Elise, Eric, Joshua, Joseph and Daniel Follett; 10 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Naomi and Roland who died in infancy, Warren and George Follett, Reta Hindman, Claude Follett and Betty Thompson.
Contributions in memory of Roger Follett may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
