Rodney Lee Syverson

Rodney Lee Syverson, age 65, of Elgin, died November 2, 2009 at the Grande Ronde Hospital. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 6, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center, 1502 7th Street in La Grande.

Mr. Syverson was born on October 27, 1944, the son of Arnold and Blanche (Bevier) Syverson in Mill City, Oregon. He was raised in Mill City and graduated from high school there. On June 15, 1979 he married Phyllis Courtney in Vancouver, Washington. They moved to Eastern Oregon in 1990. He was a member of the search and rescue and was an outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, bike riding, bow hunting and muzzle loading.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Syverson of Elgin; children, Elizabeth and Scott Allen of La Grande, Rodney Lee Syverson, Jr and Jason and Jennie Syverson all of Mill City; Nine Grandchildren; nephew, Larry Cribbs of La Grande; niece, Sharon Nunn of La Grande; brother, Delmer Syverson of Mill City; sister, Betty Hattendorf of Mill City; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by three siblings.

Those who wish may make contributions in his memory to the American Cancer Association or the Lung Association in care of Daniels~Knopp.
