Robin Joyce Smith

Robin Joyce Smith, age 64, a third generation resident of Cove, died Sunday, November 11, 2007 at her home. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 16, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the Union United Methodist Church. Private interment was held at the Cove Cemetery.

Robin was born on October 16, 1943, the daughter of Jay M. and Guyene J. (Fuller) Martin in McMinnville, Oregon. She graduated from Cove High School with the class of 1961 and in 1962 graduated from Yakima Business College. On May 24, 1968 she married Stephen B. Smith in Cove. Over the years she worked for the Yakima Potato Commission, La Grande First National Bank, as secretary of the Cove School and she also taught Kindergarten in Cove. She later homeschooled her grandchildren for 9 years.

Survivors include her husband, Stephen of Cove; children, Shannon Smith of Big Sky, Montana, Heidi Kast of Pendleton and Dustin Smith of Cove; grandchildren, Kevin "Joshua" Smith, Micah Hacker, Anthony Hacker, Hannah Kast, Brendan Gillihan Smith and Elijah Flores. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Sue Ann Brown.

Those who wish may make contribution in her memory to the GRH Hospice or the Union Methodist Church. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center, 1502 7th Street, La Grande.
