Roberta Grace Shorb

September 9, 1926 — December 7, 2015

Roberta Grace Shorb, 89, passed away on December 7 at her home. Roberta was born to Jack and Grace Jordahl in Pendleton, Oregon on September 9, 1926. She had two brothers Don and Dick. Her family moved to La Grande when she was 5 years old. She graduated from La Grande High School and attended Linfield College in McMinnville.

She married Sam, her husband of 67 years, on February 1, 1947. Sam passed away earlier this year, two days after their anniversary.

Roberta was a long time member and very active in the First Baptist Church of La Grande, teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, participating in prayer groups and other church activities. She loved children, and enjoyed being the "story lady" at Heidi Ho preschool.

She was adventurous and loved swimming, wading in the river, taking drives around the Valley, painting with watercolors, and time spent with family. Roberta was a positive, kind person, and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She leaves daughters Katie Shorb (Gary Adcock), Kennewick, WA and Janelle Shorb (Tom Lowe), Redmond, WA and son Paul Shorb (Debbie), La Grande; 3 grandchildren Heidi Daniels, Jennifer Hampton and Will Lowe; 4 step-grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and brother Dick Jordahl, of California.

The family would like to thank caregivers Kay Slippy, Juliette Andrus, Debra Davis, Tori Abel and Nadine Jones who took such good care of their mom.

A Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 17 at the First Baptist Church. A private burial will be in Grandview Cemetery.

Memorials in Roberta's name may be made to the Heidi Ho Preschool in care of the funeral home.
