Roberta Glee Manley

December 9, 1919 — December 1, 2004

Roberta Glee Manley, age 84, of La Grande, died Wednesday, December 1, 2004 at the Grande Ronde Hospital. There will be a memorial service in the early spring at Daniels Chapel of the Valley.

Mrs. Manley was born on December 9, 1919, the daughter of Vernon and Ava (Shields) Romig in Pueblo, Colorado. She married Patrick Manley in 1943 in Del Rio, Texas and they raised eight children. He preceded her in death in September of 2002.

Mrs. Manley was nicknamed "Hap" for Happy because of her extremely positive attitude, her ever present smile and her laughter. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her greatest joy. She loved cooking, sewing, quilting, gardening, birds and animals, especially dogs and cows. She loved visiting with family and friends and playing bingo. She was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church and the Red Hat Society.

Survivors include her children, Pam Brown of Redmond, Oregon, Mike Manley of Cheshire, Oregon, Susan Manley of La Grande, Stephen Manley of Shoteau, Montana, Philip Manley of Elgin, Mark Manley of Winston, Oregon, Kathleen Grover of La Grande and Mary Manley of Lake Oswego, Oregon; eighteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Two brothers, Dale and Boyd, preceded her in death.
