Roberta Lois Leen, 68, of Weston died January 8 at her home. A memorial service will begin at 4 p.m. Jan. 15 at the Pendleton Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Mrs. Leen was born Sept. 12, 1936, to Theodore and Eleanor Jacobson in Abercrombie, N.D. She grew up in Hoquiam, Wash., and attended the Auburn Adventist Academy. On Oct. 17, 1953, she married Larry LaVon Leen in Auburn, and moved to Pendleton. In 1969 she graduated from Phagen's Beauty College and owned New Image Hair Design and, from 1989 to 2002, the Pendleton College of Hair Design. The The couple started the Cookie Tree Bakery and Cafe in 1985.
She was a member of the Elgin Seventh-day Adventist Church, serving as youth leader, social leader, deaconess and most recently as elder. she enjoyed snowmobiling, four-wheeling, camping gardening, entertaining and being with her family and church family.
Survivors include her husband of Weston; children, Lenny Leen of College Place, Wash., David Leen of Walla Walla, and Terrie Leen of Pendleton; six grandchildren; siblings, Paul Jacobson of St. Cloud, Minn., Roger Sunby of Washugal, Wash., Harold Jacobson of Macomb, Mich., Lorene DeSpain of Costa Mesa, Calif., Elaine Scheller of battle Lake, Minn., and Karen Glenn of Roseburg. Her twin brother, Robert Jacobson, and siblings, Clyde, Roy, Wayne and Marcella Jacobson, and Joan Rurup, all died earlier.
