Robert "Buster" W. Smith

Robert "Buster" W. Smith, age 85, of La Grande, died August 22, 2004 at the Grande Ronde Hospital. There will be no services.

Mr. Smith was born on April 19, 1919, to General and Gladys Smith in Eagle Town, Oklahoma. He attended school in Chicago, Los Angeles, Arkansas and Oklahoma. On June 29, 1946 he married Vickie Moore in Seattle. He worked as a truck driver in the Los Angeles area and as a section foreman for the Michigan-California Lumber Company Railroad in Pollock Pines, California. He retired in 1981. The family lived in La Grande, then Hermiston before returning to La Grande in 2000. He was a gun collector and enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping.

Survivors include his wife of La Grande; son, Robert "Jerry" Smith of La Grande and three grandchildren. Several siblings died earlier.
